Innova's latest product slashes research processing time
19 February 2007
Innova Biosciences Limited announces the launch of the latest exciting new addition to its revolutionary conjugation technology suite, Lightning-Link™. Lightning-Link™ technology is used to join molecules together to form ‘conjugates’, which are widely employed in basic research, and in bioscience research, medicine and diagnostics.
Innova’s new application involves joining a fluorescent protein (phycoerythrin or “PE”) to disease-sensing monoclonal antibodies. Using a flow cytometer, a special machine found in clinical laboratories worldwide, the resulting PE conjugates can be used to detect a variety of disorders.
Announcing the launch of Lightning-Link™ PE, Innova’s Chief Executive Dr Nick Gee said, “What is unique about Innova’s method of joining molecules is its speed and simplicity. Using traditional methods can take up to two hours of an operator’s time to make a conjugate, whereas our Lightning-Link™ approach takes less than 30 seconds.”
One of the first people to try Innova’s new product, Dr Andy Rawstron of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said, “This product has the potential to dramatically improve the ability of researchers to characterise new targets for diagnosis, monitoring and therapy of leukaemia and lymphoma.”
Innova has already sold conjugation kits from the Lightning-Link™ suite of products in twelve countries, and has a pipeline of further exciting conjugation products to be launched throughout 2007.
