Rainbow Seed Fund backs BioConcepts

18 December 2006

The early-stage life sciences investment company, Babraham BioConcepts Limited (“BioConcepts”), is today pleased to announce that it has closed additional funding from the Rainbow Seed Fund (“Rainbow”). Rainbow joins Babraham Bioscience Technologies and Avlar BioVentures Fund II as shareholders in BioConcepts.
Commenting on the investment, BioConcepts Chief Executive Dr Catherine Beech said: “We are delighted to receive Rainbow’s backing. This is a very stimulating time for BioConcepts and our investors, with a number of exciting investment opportunities on the horizon.

BioConcepts’ position at the heart of the Cambridge Biotech Cluster provides the components necessary for successful start up companies; experienced biotech management, access to world class science and technology and appropriate financial investment. This additional funding from Rainbow will allow us to make real strides in consolidating the existing BioConcepts investment portfolio and to begin to add to it.”

Rainbow’s Dr Andrew Muir, who has joined the BioConcepts board, said: “We believe that the BioConcepts model provides a unique offering in early-stage life science investing in the UK, and we are delighted to have the opportunity be part of this.”
