Aitua Ltd was formed in June 2006 to commercialise Intellectual Property (IP) in the life science sector. Aitua builds companies based on novel and defensible IP with products and services that address a significant market need. It is located on the Babraham Research Campus which creates an environment to build world class companies using expertise held within the biotechnology cluster in Cambridge.
Aitua was established under an agreement between Babraham Bioscience Technologies (BBT), and Avlar BioVentures. This provided a portfolio of life science companies from BBT, an exclusive 10 year pipeline agreement with the Babraham Institute and seed funding from Avlar BioVentures. In December 2006 Rainbow Seed Fund endorsed Aitua’s expertise and ability in nurturing early stage companies and provided further funding.

In September 2006 Sir Brian Richards was appointed to Chair the Board of Aitua Ltd and Dr Catherine Beech was appointed as Chief Executive. For further details see Directors & Management.
